~ Valentine's Day ~ I saw the Calla Lily's

Happy Valentine's Billy

Valentine's Day has come and gone and I'm still here. I did find something to feel good for even though it's my first valentine's alone, or was I?
I was walking in the store Valentine's Day and low and behold mixed with the roses and tulips I saw White Calla Lily's. I have never seen them before so why now especially for Valentine's.
You see the spray of flowers on my Billy's casket were red and white calla lily's. So in the middle of my turmoil, missing him and heartbreak I got a sign. It's what I call a "GodWink". Billy's way of telling me he's here with me always. The day can be hard and bleak but if you really look and listen there walking next to us each day, each minute and watching us when we sleep. I bought those Calla Lily's and know that even though the connection is sad he's with me and his way of reminding me in small ways.
So at this moment in time I'm OK. Tomorrow maybe another story but our lives are chapters in a book telling the story's of our lives. I go back looking at past chapters, my memories but remind myself the book is not ended. The chapters have just changed. So I try to be continue because Billy always saw the best in me, so I tell myself ~

I am truly sorry for your loss. I believe too that God wanted you to see those calla lillies to give you comfort. I have not seen many of those and they are beautiful.
God does work in mysterious ways and I am glad that you saw the flowers and were comforted. I like the word ''God wink'' because it really fits the situation.And the fact that you felt comforted.
So when you feel down think of those calla lily's.
I too got a God wink last night when I was missing my husband and I was sitting up in bed reading the Bible. I smelled his cologne really strong. I could feel it in my nose. I had not smelled the cologne for a long time but now I know he is near me It did not last more then a few minutes but there is still a slight scent in the closet.
I thought Valentines day would be awful for me. There was a party at church and it was really nice. Well, that little great grandaughter just stole the hearts of the brothers and sisters and the pastor admired her.She is 5 weeks old. I suppose God sent her to let me know life goes on even though we feel it has stopped. Whenever she smiles I see God's handiwork and realize I have a lot to be thankful for. My husband would have adored that little girl. I feel better. I am still trying to make it through and am returning to work outside the home and will manage the complex here.
It is a comforting thought for you that Billy is still with you. Of course God is with you too. It seems that you really needed that God wink. I am glad you got it.We are here for you too. Take care of yourself. God bless you.

What a Wonderful World

I walked into a store on Valentine's day. Just routine shopping....trying to keep myself busy.

My daughter's friend prepared a CD of all of my husband's favorite songs to give to close friends and family at my husband's funeral. One of the songs I requested (one of his favorites~although we really weren't around when it was popular~it's a real oldie) was It's a Wonderful World. Everytime it ever came on the radio when we were driving (The Louis Armstrong version) he would really get into singing it.

So....I'm listening to the CD and she chose a version by Isreal Kamakawiwo~a Hawaiian singer (check it our on You Tube). I thought~that's not what I asked for. I listened to it several times and it did sort of grow on me. Anyway back to the store.

I walked in and it really took me a minute to realize this exact version was playing on the store stereo system. I just stood there~stunned. It's Valentine's day and this version, that not many people are aware of, was playing on in the store the exact time I was there. You are so right. It's a God wink. I think I was being told it really is a wonderful world if we let it be. Then I came home and cried for two hours (my first Valentine's day without him). My faith has been renewed.

I know I will miss my husband every minute of every day for the rest of my life. It's only been three months but as I'm looking back over those months that was at least the third God wink I've been given. I was so deep in grief the first two months I didn't realize what they were.
Although we grieve and some days are tough it really is a wonderful world. 1 breath, 1 step at a time.

How great is it to get a "sign" that they are around us. It's funny that these little things appear out if nowhere and wow do they give us that much needed smile. I'm a believer that they are with us. Not constantly but they hear us and try to communicate when you need them. I've had so many quirky things appear as signs. They are things known to only him and I. Whatever dimension they are living in is along side of us. I'm glad you see these things. Keep writing and let us know when you get them. I'm out of time but I will share my recent sign with everyone....it's sweet. I'm glad you feel a little better and hope you find some comfort in this life knowing he's here in spirit.
