A Better Place

My 44 year old son, Heath, died of liver failure on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 12:20 AM. He was in Houston, TX. He was totaly unresponsive when I got to the hospice on Tuesday afternoon, but the nurses assured me that he coud hear me and encouraged me to keep talking to him. He passed away in my arms and I was very grateful for that. I know he felt me holding him and telling him to go to the light. He had a very difficult life and was very sick and in a lot of pain for the past 6 months. He is in a better place where his life will be filled with joy and peace. That makes my loss bearable.

My son, David, who was 24, also died of liver failure. It was so terribly hard watching him get thinner and thinner, and knowing he was dying. He was sick for about 10 years. He has been gone 3 years now, and it never gets much easier.
