A Year of Loss.

by Patty Bainbridge
(Marcellus, MI US)

Just when life felt good and right it changed.

It changed when my Dad died.

It changed when my lover did not want me.

It changed when I lost my job.

Just when life felt good and right it changed.

It changed when past pain and resentment resurfaced once again.

It changed when one more disappointment was too much to bear.

Just when life felt good and right it changed.

Just when I felt I could not bear another disappointment it changed.

It changed when family and friends came to my rescue.

It changed after months of loneliness and depression.

It changed when I was strong and brave enough to feel and express my loss.

Just when I felt I could not bear another disappointment it changed.

It changed when I broke down and asked God for help.

It changed when I gave myself time to heal.

It changed when I found hope in the future.
