ALEX WAS THE BEST CAT

MY CAT ALEX PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY. I NEVER KNEW HE WAS ILL UNTIL LAST SATURDAY WHEN HE VOMITED, REFUSED TO EAT AND WAS HIDING. WE TOOK HIM TO THE VET AND AFTER BLOOD TESTS, X-RAYS, ETC, THEY STILL DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE VET ASKED US TO GO HOME FOR A FEW HOURS AND LEAVE ALEX AFTER GIVING HIM PAIN MEDICATION. I LEFT INSTRUCTIONS TO CALL ME IF ANYTHING URGENT AROSE.

GOT A CALL AT 3 A.M, RUSHED OVER AS THE TEAM WAS TRYING TO SAVE HIS LIFE. UNFORTUNATELY, HE PASSED AWAY WHILE I WATCHED.

I HAD ALEX FOR NINE YEARS, FOUND HIM WHEN HE WAS ABOUT TWO. HE WAS A FRIENDLY, PLAYFUL, BEAUTIFUL GRAY AND WHITE SHORTHAIR. I FED HIM THE BEST FOOD, DISTILLED WATER, SPOILED HIM WITH TOYS AND BEDS, ETC.

POST-MORTEM SHOWED HE MAY HAVE HAD LYMPHOSARCOMA. THE SHOCK HAS JARRED ME DEEPLY. I AM HEARTBROKEN, PARTICULARLY SINCE I RETURNED FROM A TEN DAY TRIP AFTER LEAVING ALEX WITH MY UNCLE, WHOM HE LOVED VERY MUCH. HE SAID THAT ALEX SHOWED NO SIGNS OF ILLNESS DURING THAT TIME. I WISH I HAD NOT GONE, AND SPENT THOSE TEN DAYS WITH ALEX. I MISS HIM SO VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO EXPRESS MY GRIEF.

It's tough losing a pet and I am sorry for your loss. They become part of our lives; working themselves into the fabric of the family like a child...one who won't ever leave home, or so we think.

Sammy was probably abused before she came to us. At just a few months of age, she was cranky, skittish, fearful and loving. Odd mix, huh. But we loved her and tried to comfort her when she was afraid. She loved to be brushed and petted by my husband and me; no one else.

She would have been ten years old next month had she lived. Like you, I wondered what we should have done. We did not leave her or anything, just noted that she was taking less interest in mealtime, which was not like her. She was plump and so losing a few pounds probably wouldn't be a problem. But she quit eating and drinking, no matter what we tried. We hoped she'd make it until Monday when we had a vet appt, but she died Sunday.

I think animals have a sense of sickness. They seem to want to go away, like they do to have a litter of kittens. Our Pipsqueak (other cat) spent several days looking for his friend. We can't explain. We can only love them, and that, you did.

My love of my life

My tabby cat was 9 years old--she had stopped eating and was getting skinny-we finally took her to the vet and found out she had stomach cancer-the vet said he could give her something to make her comfortable but there was nothing else he could do. That she could last a week to a year-we decided it was best to end her suffering and had the vet put her to sleep--my husband and I are devastated, we have had her since she was 6 months old I know how you feel. I have been in deep shock since it happen on 3/2/ my thoughts are with you.
