Bobby Lee West - January 1950 - July 2011

In July 2011, my dad, Bobby Lee West, was traveling with my mom from Florida to Virginia to see my oldest son get married. One of the rear tires blew out and my mom lost control of the van which flipped several times. My dad died instantly. My mom was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Dad served in the Marines and was a Vietnam Vet. My son, Warren Graham, idolized him and even followed in his Marines footprints. Currently Warren is an MP stationed in Quantico, VA. One of the things Warren wanted to do was to take his Granddad to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in DC. Dad had never been. The day after his death, I went to the memorial. I figured that if he couldn’t see it, then I was going to see it for him. I loved him so much but I never really got to tell him. Now it is too late. You always think that there will be more time…

I am so sorry for your loss, it seems they are with you & then you realize they aren't! I just lost my 38 year old son, who loves animals & was killed trying to save a family of geese on I-290n, near the O'HARE. When traffic let up he ran out to save the geese, but traffic didn't let up for long. He was hit by a car, & thrown up in the air, & landed on the highway, injured. With traffic stopped his girlfriend was able to cross, & be with him, until paramedics came. At the hospital, he was listed as critical, cracked skull, broken leg, crushed pelvis, & internal bleeding. They took him up to surgery, but after 3hrs. he was gone. We were all together the night before, & the next morning he was gone. You need your Faith to get you thru! This happened May 30,2011! GOD BLESS ANYONE WHO HAS LOST A LOVED ONE.

Though you will always miss him, I hope that you can look on your father's life with pride and thankfulness that he served our country and lived to see his grandchildren grow. My eternal thanks for his service, and the service of your son now. May God bless and keep you all always, and my sincerest prayers go to you and your son, that he may answer the nation's call and return home safely every time. It may be too early for you to want to hear it, but we are all blessed with the time we are given. As hard as it is, I hope we can all learn from this to live each day as a gift, because it might not be there for us tomorrow. Thank you as well, for the support that I'm sure your son has felt from you with his decision to take up his grandfather's mantle. We are all lucky to have him.

I am so sorry about your loss. I just lost a very precious member of the family, my kitty Tail, he was my best friend, i don't know how you can compare a human to to an animal, but love is love,and when you lose something that you love, it is hard. I am so so sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend, my kitty. I don't know if you understand. But I understand your pain. God bless you
