Dear Brave Mom

by Corne

Last year May my mother went for a AAA repair. She was in hospital for 2 months and was doing so well. She came home a month before her 60th birthday and we all were so exited for her. But then everything went downhill in one week....the week before her 60th birthday. I took her to the hospital the Monday morning and they informed us that she had heart and kidney failure and a fistula. She was in so much pain and very confused and blurred speech. We went to her every day and the Thursday so looked a little better and she said all her goodbuys and told us that she loves us and she is fine. We joked and said were going to bring 60 balloons and cake to the hospital.

We went the Vryday evening of her birthday and they told us she is in theatre and it does not look good. There we sat in the waiting room with flowers and balloons and my mom is fighting for her life in the theatre on her 60th birthday. The doctor suggested the we go home as he does not want us to see her because she had a big operation and he think we must come in the morning.

05h45 We received a call that we must come and say goodbye. How do you say goodbye to your mother forever?

She was heavily sedated so we held her hand and wishpered in her ear as our tears fall on her face. She smelled the same and her held felt the same but on the inside she was broken.

I love you mom and will always love you! Everyday I want to pick up the phone and just hear you laugh one more time....but one day I will sit next to you and you can brief me on everything I have missed.

Your loving daughter....
