Decker, my girl!

My calico cat, Decker, an SPCA rescue, picked me when I met her the very day that I decided to go and adopt an adult cat. That was Sept. 15, 1991. She enchanted me and enhanced my life greatly over the years that we shared until due to old age and kidney failure, she left my side gently with the veterinarian's help on Nov. 3, 2003. A very sad day.

I visited PetLoss.com a lot those first months and years. Posted lots of stories and appreciated all the comfort from others who had lost their beloved pets too. I have binders full of my thoughts of loss and love of my sweet cat. It's such a journey and the memories are all treasures.

Even today, I carry her photograph in my wallet and if the opportunity arises, I will talk about her and show her picture proudly even though it's been over 7 years since she and I had a cuddle. I do believe that spiritually, eventually we will be together again and so until then, I love her still.
