Flowers On Your Grave

by Karey Patterson
(Waco, Texas, USA)

As I place these flowers on your grave,
I know you’re not here,
but watching from heaven above.
Know that most of all we miss your love.

You would have enjoyed Easter at your place,
But I know the light of Jesus has touched your face.
I wish the division between our worlds was not so wide,
Because I cannot talk to you, so many nights I’ve cried.

I planted the peach tree in your name,
But somehow with you not being here,
It’s just not the same.

We will carry on the legacy of this land,
But I look forward to the time I can hold your hand.
I hope you know how much we miss you, your presence with us.
We will try to be strong, but know how we miss you through it all.

Of course, I know exactly how you feel because I miss him just as much as you. Thank you for writing this poem. It is beautiful. All my love, Sister Bonnie
