For All I've Lost that Have Gone On

by Jeanne Fiedler
(Washington Twp, NJ)

The long dark hallway
is burning
I travel anxiously
The hearts of loves
gone fly by
The depths of time gone
in the wink of an eye

I wish I were
still twenty-five
completely in step
with a world so alive
The magic still
awakening in my eyes
The future opening
like the vast skies

But we change and grow
and live and learn
We laugh, we cry
we lose, we earn
The road home is filled
with sorrowful good-byes
the lessons we had
the hows and the whys

When I get there
I know not when
But I'll know I am there
when my soul shine again
The balance of life on earth
and the hereafter world
brings us to our truth
as each moment is unfurled

Those I knew and loved
whose lives so quickly passed
who fled into the open space
I know I've not seen the last
The depth of my emotions
so quickly draws us near
and when my life is over
I know they'll be right near

We'll be together always
smiling down at those
who still walk the earth
whose time has yet to close
We'll sit at the right hand of God
in bliss and in great peace
We'll pray for those we love
our sadness finally ceased
