Goodbye

by Leona Welker
(Merced)

As I look down at you
Watching you lie still
I think back on the good times
When I was papas girl

My lips quiver
As I start to realize
This is the end
There is no more future left

I think about the day I will marry
The day that I have my first child
You will not be there
My soul aches in pain

My Christian faith tries to reassure me
"This is not the end"
"This is only goodbye for a little"
The thought brings little comfort

Goodbye my papa
I hope to see you again
Where tears do not flow
Where there is no pain

Touching
by: Down Under

What a beautiful poem, thank you. You touched my heart, brings back memories of losing my father last year.
