Grandpa the Prolific

by Nathan Dufresne
(California, USA)

In his youth, my Grandfather, who passed away early morning Dec. 10th, was a: geophysicist, genealogist, father of nine, faithful husband, non-drinker, non-smoker, great singer, bear-hugger, lover of the great literature. Even though his last years were spent bedridden from a stroke, and though dementia tormented him especially in the final times, he still, somehow, believed in God.

I myself am a young man, with weak faith in higher powers, but seeing my Grandpa make the sign of the cross before he began his sad meals at the rest home...It changed me, somehow, and I don't know any other way to put it.

I love you Grandpa, the memory of your strong embrace is what will remain in my heart.

Nathan I hope you go on to emulate and Honour your grandfather in your life. That his legacy of Faith will strengthen you to pursue this for yourself. We each have our own FAITH WALK in life. But to have a good influence in one's life does help us make CHOICES where we will have our own life's experiences. I am glad your grandfather KNEW GOD. Sadly when we walk through life with so much pain, grief, and sorrow. It is good to know that we are not ALONE. God gave life and God takes Life. But with a PROMISE. "I will come back again and receive you to myself that where I am (in HEAVEN) there you may be also. Now this is something to look forward to. For those who BELIEVE and those struggling to have a form of Belief in a HIGHER POWER. WE are all helpless mortals going through this world and building happiness and success. But success is measured in having lived well. As you describe how your grandfather lived. May you be BLESSED as your grandfather was with a successfull life where you will emulate your grandfather and adopt his strong core values to help you go through this difficult fast changing world.
