Grief and family

by Terri
(Kingsville, OH)

My story begins on May 13, 2010 when I lost my first born child to Melanoma. Through it all my brother and his wife became an anchor in reality for me. They understand my pain because a few years earlier they lost their first born son Jeremy. Their support and sharing has been a true ray of light in my clouded state. Understanding like no one else I know could, she and my brother are flying myself and my youngest daughter a round trip ticket home. She knew that this Christmas would be unbearably painful. At least there I won't have to pretend to be alright or put on a false face for the sake of everyone else.

Grief and Family
by: Mari

I am sorry for your loss ,Terri. It is so hard to lose someone you love, especially a child. May God comfort you at this difficult time. It sounds as if you have a wonderful caring family. It will certainly be a blessing to be with them during Christmas.

I myself have had to do a lot of pretending that things were alright when they were not, more times then I can count. So I understand. Strangely enough it is my 12 yr old grandaughter who understands my feelings the most because she was ''grandpa's girl.''

Please keep on posting as there are many wonderful people on this board. It helps to express your feelings and everyone cares how you feel. We have all gone through losses. God bless you. Take care of yourself.
