i didn't get to say goodbye

by Ellen
(ireland Kerry)

November the 4th morning I remember my parents seating down to me and saying grandad died last night ...then they said at his last words to tell me I love her and I will never forget her
... the wake was a day after and before they brought him to the church I kiss him and hold his hand then on his funeral day I didn't want to go cause I didn't want him to go away forever at 87 ...he had cancer ...he was a farmer and he said that this field in front of his houses was his favourite place in the world

I didn't get to say goodbye
by: Anonymous

So sorry for your loss, it is a tough time for you. I didn't get to say goodbye to my mum when she died in hospital last July so I know how you feel. Your grandfather knew you loved him and that is what matters.I read that our loved ones pass away when the people they love are not there as it would be too difficult to say goodbye to them.Talk about your grandfather and tell people close to you how you feel. Most people are helpful. I keep a diary and when I am upset I write a letter to mum telling her how I feel and usually this helps. It might work for you. Look after yourself, your grandfather's spirit lives on. Take each day as it comes. How you feel is totally normal.

I didn't get to say goodbye

Ellen I am sorry for your loss of your granddad from cancer. Many of us don't get to say goodbye. For some of us this is important. I lost my husband to cancer 22 months ago. I didn't say goodbye to my husband. I couldn't bear to say goodbye and face the final loss of him FOREVER. I said "See you in the morning." I do believe in God and his promise to come back to earth for those who Love and Trust in Him and so I know I will according to Faith see my husband again. This HOPE keeps me going on each day. Take one day at a time and you will find the days pass and the pain gets less. It is a hard place for us to be for some time. The days ahead will get easier and you will get your life back in time.
