I lost my 10 year brother to a farming accident.

I lost my 10 year old brother just over a month ago. My brother loved life & he loved helping out on the farm. His dream was to be a farmer just like his dad.. He had a terrible accident on the 10/10/12. My dad found my brother with the quad bike on top of him. My dad tried all he could to get my brother to breath again until the ambulance had got there. They tried for another 40 minutes they final got the heart beat going but as they were moving him into the helicopter they lost it again.

We have put a cross up at the accident and have even planted some trees down there. Life gets harder each day, but we all pull through for my brother. This christmas we will be alone without my brother. I hope that my family will pull through this, mostly my dad has he is turning to alcohol and is finding it really hard. We are a strong family though and we will make it through.

Thank you for listening to my story.

Lexie I am sorry for your loss of your 10 year old brother. Especially at Christmas this will be the worst time for you all as a family. I have to live Christmas without my husband who died 6 months ago of cancer. It is going to the worst time ever. But I have no choice to live the best way I can.
Try and get your Dad to go to grief counselling. It is much better than taking alcohol. Alcohol will numb the pain for a while and then the pain comes back worse. Alcohol only masks the pain of grief temoporarily. Counselling will help him feel the pain and the pain will lessen and your father will only hurt for a while and then gradually get his life back. It is hard to lose a child and a young child at that. I couldn't bear this loss.
Life is full of sorrow of one kind or another, but losing a child or loved one is the worst that can happen to us. There is no pain like Grief. If your father gets counselling you will get your close knit family back. It is so very hard going through life when someone is missing from your family unit. We will all have a heartache for some time till healing takes place in us.
