This is not a life threatening disease. 98% of patients recover. I became her advocate, trying to get her out of the Island. It took 8 months to get her home to Florida. By that time so many months had gone by, we got home her home via air ambulance. She lasted 15 days.
She passed on 10/17/10 at 12:01 am. While I absolutely know I did everything I could for her, my heart is broken and I can't stop feeling this pain and sorrow. When will the healing start? Everything reminds me of her. I lost my mother, my best friend.
People around me expect me to get back to normal, but I don't know what normal is anymore. Everything seems to be so dark, there seems to be no light in my life anymore. I thank God because she no longer suffers, however I never knew the void she'd leave behind.
