Just Before The Bridge - In Memory of Pugsley 2/5/01 - 2/2/14

My Precious Boy Puglsey

My Precious Boy Puglsey

Pugsley, I feel so helpless
Bitterness caught in my throat, like a seed husk
I'm choking
Where are my wings?
Why can't I fly away from this moment?

Pugsley, you showed me how much goodness
was housed in my soul
You brought living to my life when
you restored my heart
a million heartbeats ago

Pugsley, at that moment, I held you so tightly
as if holding you could bring my "Always In Trouble"
Pugsley back to me
As if the last hug could fend off the inevitable
As you kissed my face, I inhaled you
and the scent of all our yesterdays
drifted into my heart

Your gentle essence
Your tender nature
Your innocent trust
allowing me to do for you
what you couldn't do for yourself
Those tired eyes
that I loved so
that I loved so

That devastating moment
just before The Bridge

Beautifuly written! It made me cry for my Boxers who are gone. My dogs live on in my heart and mind. Oh how we love them. I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care.
