Losing my best friend. (ro6179)

by Alan

On the page prior to this there was a list of Losses.
Lost Mom, lost Dad, Lost spouse I would have to say yes to all of them. And all in less than a year. My father passed on fathers day 2011, My wife April 2012 and my mom 3 weeks later. I just felt abandoned every one left and I was still here. My father died unexpectedly he was in his mid 80s and aging but was not dieing at the time. My mom was suffering from Alzheimer and as the years passed she became more and more dependent. And Rose my wife was fighting breast cancer that went to the brain. To this day I cant believe how strong she was. And how she tought all of us how to die. (more to come)

losing my best friend (ro6179)

I feel you so clearly. I lost my mom, dad, best friend of 28 yrs and my very best friend-my soul mate of 33 yrs in 18mos. Although it was not as fast as your sorrow,it's sorrow just the same. It's been 15 mos since my husband died. I am a retired nurse and let me tell you I have a new respect for those family members who have to sign DNR's and ask the staff to turn off the machines that keep your loved one alive. My mother also had alzheimers. I am glad GOD took her home when HE did as it was getting close to the time I would have to go to court and take her rights away from her. I'm glad I didn't have to do that.My dad had cancer for 13 yrs and my husband died from complications of pneumonia. He had emphysema and only 40% of his lungs left. They found a tumor in one of his lungs and this strong, outdoors person would have had to have been on 24 hour oxygen and chemo. NOT a life I wanted for him.Besides they said he might have lived another month or two.I will keep you in my prayers and hope that you find someone to be a friend to you so you can talk about this. I also felt as if my whole support structure disappeared all at once. GOD BLESS you
