Loss of Pepper, My Heart Dog
by Christine Bean
Hi. It's Pepper! I crossed over the bridge! I'm here! When I got to where it starts, Poochie came running out to greet me. We were kissing each other and playing so much we almost fell off the bridge. Then she said, "Come on, my love, on the other side are many who await you." And was that ever right. There were SO many dogs and cats sitting there as far as my eyes could see, with their paws in prayer and heads bowed. They said they know a lot of you - and that all you have to do is feel them in your hearts. Part of them lives there with you. If you really listen with your heart, they will talk to you.
I know mommy and daddy miss me a lot. I don't want them to be sad. I was in a lot of pain but didn't want them to know, but I guess they did. No pain now! I am running with the wind. Everyone here has wings - all different colors, some with rainbow colors. I don't know what color mine are because they're just starting to grow. Poochie was laughing at that (hers are a beautiful lavender). She said, "Pepper, of course yours are red. You'll see when they get bigger,"
I am a happy dog. Dad called me "little man"; Mom called me "little tank" but those were just fun names. This is a wonderful place. So I am smiling again.
