Lost in my grief

by Hugh Mullin
(Scotland)

I lost my Grandad on 7th may 2010, he was 80 years old and had been ill with dementia for over 3 years. He had a good life and was the world's best grandad and dad in the world, and will be missed.

I will never forget that day for as long as I live it was 2.15 in the morning when me and my mum got the phone call; when I found out I didn't get upset at first I fell into a state of shock. It didn't really set in until the day of the funeral when I had to help carry the coffin.

I will never forget him, and will always love him. HE WAS THE BEST. Ever since he died I've felt lost in my grief and really don't how I'm going to get back to normal, but with my family behind me I know I'll survive.

Grand Grandfather
by: Down Under

Hugh, my condolences on the loss of your grandfather. It will take time to overcome the horrible feeling of grief. You will go through many stages and you may think you are going crazy at times, and when you do, come straight back to this website and read everyone's thoughts and feelings. It is here where you will see that what you're feeling in completely normal. Keep the happy memories alive Hugh, they will get you through. Warm wishes coming your way.
