Lost my Dad to Cancer 1/25/2013

by Maria

Its been almost 6 weeks since my Dad passed away. The last week was the hardest week of my life. He was on life support my 5 siblings and mom were there when he took his last breath. I am so glad he is no longer suffering but on the other hand I miss him so much. It feels like a hole in my heart. Have been doing well latelly but all of sudden this week I started getting flash backs of that last week. I know this is normal but I hate it it so final. I miss him every day :(

Maria I am so sorry for your loss of your Dad. We are never ready to ever let our parents go. Death is such a very distressing part of Life. We go on each day and then suddenly our lives are changed forever. My 3 Adult children lost their father 10 months ago and feel the same way you do. Flashbacks are difficult to deal with when they come but is part of our grief. We just have to let them come and when they have passed out of our mind they are gone. Each time this happens it should get less over time. But it is good to have memories. When we can't remember our loved one and the memories it is then that we have something to be worried about. I lost my husband to cancer and this is the worst disease ever to live with. It will take time to get beyond where you are in your grief.
