Lost My Dad to Lung Cancer

by Maddie
(Illinois)

My dad was diagnosed in about January of last year. But they said it had already been there for a year. He had surgery to remove his left lung where the tumor the size of a baseball was growing. He had radiation and chemo. Later on he took Tarceva. I don't have much too say because he didn't tell me much. He went in the hospital a few times due to his pain meds not working and where his left lung was filling up with fluids and had to be drained. He almost became paralyzed because the tumor almost collapsed his spine. Towards the end he was put on oxygen and a bed was put in the living room. He was confused and waved at stuff that wasn't there. I'm guessing his mom that passed from pancreas cancer. His hips gave out once and he fell on the couch. He put up an amazing fight. And they said he did it for me and my brother. His heart stopped beating on March 27th, 2012. He was 40 years old. He fighted til the end. He always was a fighter. He's in no more pain and in a better place. I love and miss you so much Dad <3 See you again someday.
