Me and her against the world

by Alan aka Guido

I've tried sharing our story.Tried a few times. I cried so hard I couldn't continue. I do know that the Beatles were right: All you need is Love.
My beautiful wife and I met in 1975, she was 16, I was 18, we were just kids. She took my breath away in every way imaginable!
We married in June, 1977. We chose not to have children, all we needed was each other.
We grew together, learned from each other, spent every minute possible with each other......I, indeed, was a very rich man.
My Donna was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in July of 2009. She fought bravely for nearly 2 and a half years. She passed on December 8, 2011.
The pain is unbearable, the loneliness is paralyzing. I too go to work, put on the happiest face I can muster and pretend to be ok. But I'm not. I'll never be who I was. I miss her so much......
Her favorite song was " Comfortably Numb " by Pink Floyd.
Her favorite color was purple.
Her favorite baseball player was Jim Rice.
Her favorite spot was the beach.
That's where I spread my most beautiful wife's ashes.

May we all find the strength to go on.

I'm sorry for your loss, I have to say your post touched my heart, to have a love like that and just be the two of you. I didn't know Donna but, I know I have told my family if I died today do not cry for me do not be sad but, carry on in my name. I lost my 3 year old grandson in Jan this year I know it's not the same as losing a spouse but, the pain is so intense and I just want him back or to switch places with him, I have lived 46 years and seen more than some people ever get to see.
I hope somehow you can find the strength and courage to carry on. Hugs
