i am 11 and my dad just die 4 monts ago and i was crying yesterday and my mom told me just to get over it they have been divorce for 2 years but how can she say that i mean it is just not right right? the hard thing for me to understand is how he had the guts to kill him self it just isn't him i don't know how he did these or why i don't know what eles to say so bye

Hi Mackenzie,
I am sorry sweetheart that you lost your daddy and that your Mum is not able to be there for you. Your mother has her own issues with the divorce and so she is not able to process how you feel and what to say to you. This is sad. Do you have any brothers and sisters? or aunties and uncles? or any relatives you can talk to and who would understand and support you at this difficult time in your life?
Sweetie you may cry and cry and cry and this is O.K. it is part of the grief and sadness you are feeling inside and is normal. Don't let anyone tell you that you have to get over it. It is not easy to get over a loss like yours. Your daddy must have been sad over something and may not have intended to take his own life but found himself feeling depressed and could not shake it off and found himself in a hard place he didn't want to be without any support or anyone to understand and so he felt this was the only way out of his unhappiness.
Mackenzie as you go through life and you feel sad always try to talk it over with someone. Don't keep things locked up inside and think one day that what your daddy did in taking his own life is the only option for dealing with difficulty or pain. Counsellors are good people who work with people in pain and help them get better and be in a better place mentally so that they can cope with the difficulties in life and later on find that Life is worth living. We face trials and adversity every day of our lives as living is difficult and we have many struggles to cope with but remember that You can feel better in time with support from someone who can help you work through any problems you are having. Talking does help. Don't give up on life, your mum or your daddy. You will be happy again one day but it will take a lot of time. Give yourself the time and space to recover from this tragedy. Remember that you are still loved no matter what happens to you in life. Being a Mum or Dad is difficult in life today. Struggles for work, money, a place to live, death etc. all contribute to making us unhappy and some people can't cope with the difficulties. I hope in life that you are able to find someone who will be a mentor to you and help you work through your grief and love you into making a difference in the world and you will be successfull in all you do. I am sure one day you will make a very valuable contribution to life. Don't give up Honey! We love you on this website and thank you for sharing your story and I am so sorry for your loss, your pain, your heartache. You will be happy again and smile but it will take a long time.

Hi Mckenzie,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. You are such a strong and brave girl to reach out and try to get some help for how you are feeling. I know alot of adults that don't even do that. Your mom is just not thinking clearly and no matter what she says nothing can take away the love you have for your daddy and the love he had for you. My dad died sometime now and their are still times that I think about him and cry for him. You just cry if you want to no-one can stop your tears. The suggestion about the daddy book is a really good one I write poems and letters to my loved ones that have died and it helps me so maybe it will help you too. If you have friends that will talk to you about it, talk to them too and speak to the teacher in the guidance dept at school maybe she has some ideas. The most important thing that you can do for your daddy now is to live a honest and good life. Have dreams and work on them to come true and be the best that you can be. I can tell that you are already on the way to being fantastic.

Ah sweetheart, you are such a beautiful little poppet. My heart goes out to you and I'm sure like me, everyone else who has read this is sending you love and light. Your Dads words will stay in your heart and you won't ever forget how much he loves you. Your mum is probably heartbroken to see you so upset,and im sure she is grieving in her own way. You are a strong little lady and you will make sense of it one day, perhaps seeing a counsellor would help? You could maybe speak to your teacher. Every good thing I have ever done in my life has been motivated by my love for my Dad. He is always with me, because love stays in your heart. I used to write how I felt, just to get it out of my head. A special Dad book, filled with all you feel, could help? Sending some much love and lite to you little lady xxx
