My beloved Mindy

My beloved Mindy was a German shepherd/collie mix that I adopted from the Humane Society when she was 5 years old. She was an abused dog who had been abandoned and found as a stray. She was so attached to me that she had to lie near me and followed me from room to room to always be with me. Last week I had the vet come and put her to sleep. She was almost 16 years old. I know she had a good life but I am still so sad. She could no longer get up the 6 steps to the house and could hardly get up when lying down. She was beginning to yelp and whine and was probably developing dementia as there was no reason for it most of the time. The vet said that her heart was still good but that her body was giving up. She went to sleep peacefully with me petting her head and talking to her. I miss her terribly -- she was one of the best dogs I ever had.

Sorry for the loss of Mindy
by: Roxann

You gave her a wonderful life-so much better than her start in life..I know it still hurts but it will fade and the fun memories will be there. We lost our 11 year old pom mix in Aug and the pain is fading and we get a kick out of talking about her over the top personality. That's what makes having pets in our lives - the laughs and unconditional love they give us.

Beautiful Mindy
by: Diane

Our hearts break when we lose our furbabies, and only time will help. I'm so happy that your Mindy lived a long life, and that you gave her happiness and love. We hurt so bad because we loved so much. Please accept my condolences and know Mindy is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.RIP beautiful Mindy!

My beloved Mindy

Carol I am sorry for your loss of your beloved dog Mindy. My sister is facing the same distress almost about to lose her Westie.
She has had such a lovely relationship with her dog as you have had also and this is so sad when the relationship has been so good. Keep a Mindy Journal and write out as many memories as you can remember and you will have this forever.
You have so many good memories you can build on by giving your love to another pet. It won't be the same I know as each pet has their own personality and often it is so beautiful that words cannot express how one truly feels.
I had a cage of 9 cockatiels all with different personalities. I gave them up for a better life in an outdoor/indoor AVIARY where they would have had a better quality of life. But how I miss them so much. I remember the moodiness of each bird. I remember also one love bird went blind and struggled to climb the cage and I took him into my hand where he died. My heart broke and I thought I would never recover. I lost 3 other birds who flew out of the cage and 2 died. I adore pets and so I understand your loss and how you feel.
