my brother greg

by jodi birch
(seminole ,florida)

My brother greg just turned 44 in october of this year, three weeks ago he experienced pain in his stomach and was rushed to the emergency room where he was admitted. The hospital ran test and ran a scope down his throat, they found a tumor in his esophagus, days later the results came back as cancer. The Dr.s gave our family hope saying they can do chemo and radiation as soon as possible to shrink the tumor, they also told us they needed to do a pet scan to make sure the cancer had not spread. On thanksgiving day his results from the pet scan came back that his cancer had spread through-out his body including his bones,we were then told his cancer was terminal,he was transported to a hospice care center ,they told us we could start chemo& radiation treatments.my brother greg lived two days and passsed away,he never got a chance to start chemo as his body was just to sick and worn. Our family is devastated. It is now the day before christmas and we are trying our best to be happy,it will never be the same (holidays) without our beloved greg.We know he is in a great place and is watching over us .He loved the holidays. My brother has no pain where he is now and that is of great comfort to me,my pain now is watching what my parents are going through,i can't imagine the loss of a child,he was my brother and the pain in my heart is terrible.god bless everyone ..thank you for reading my story:) p.s the hospice care center took great care of him.
