My best buddy from freshman year of college is gone. I met Rohan on campus when registering for classes back in 1990. Rohan who was of east Indian descent, I never encountered due to where I grew up there were nobody of any ethnicity anywhere. At first it was ackward for me to get to know him, though quickly found out he grew up like me in Washington (in another city), loved muscle cars, the Scorpions and cheeseburgers just as much as I did.

Soon enough we did everything together, meeting girls (my wife now),cruising in his old '70 Impala and hung out with other buddies. After graduation we got jobs in the same city and apartments nearby. I thought the great times would last forever....I was wrong

When our other buddies and us were at Las Vegas for a bachelor party in 2010, Rohan started feeling stomache pains. We were all concerned and his pain passed until 2 weeks later at his work. He brushed it off blaming his ab crunches he did beforehand. Pretty much it came down to he couldn't sleep at night. My wife and myself along with his fiance made him go to the hospital where he was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer. He knew his chances were slim and accepted them. Rohan left us March 9th 2011 at 39. He left behind a loving fiance, sisters, a brother and 4 nieces and nephews who still cry for their uncle.

Rohan left me his old '70 Chevy Impala from college he had restored. I sit behind the steering wheel in my garage late at night when my wife and kids are asleep and cry my eyes out. He was like a brother to me and was there for me when I lost my mom, my best man when I got married, the godfather to my daughters.

I just miss my best friend so much and it hurts to no end.
