My mom gassed herself with the patio heater and then there was an explosion!

by Sammy
(South Africa)

My beloved mom of 60 committed suicide. We only found out on the 2nd June 2012. We were contacted the Monday morning and then got the shock of our lives! My mom gassed herself without saying goodbye and then there was this big explosion. Her beautiful townhouse was pitch black and the room where she did it in was a wreck... The beautiful place and my beautiful mom was gone forever.....
She was so energetic and always had a smile on her face...needless to say.....its gone forever....

She took the patio heater and openend it on full...

Sammy I am sorry for your loss of your mother to suicide. You must seek grief counselling or some professional support. The grief from a suicide is indeed different from any other type of grief. It is a sudden death. There are so many questions and answers. Family members all looking for clues. Family members blaming each other. Indeed the family will become more fractured now and perhaps some of you will not know how to go on from here.
My nephew committed suicide at 30yrs. He threw himself in front of an express train. the method chosen to end one's life will affect the grief. If the person has chosen a very violent way to end their life the grief will be more unbearable.
You have had a very abrupt end to your mother's life. Shock. Sorrow. Deep Grief. You will all feel so helpless. wondering how your mother was feeling before this tragic ending. What was in her mind? Was she ill? did she do this on purpose to make a statement? She was so young still. Something pushed her over the edge. She would not have had a chance to process things in a rational way. Suicide is an irrational act. I hope you all as a family can find the answers you need so you can grieve fully. I hope you find Peace in the difficult days ahead.

Sammy - Suicide is not the answer
by: Nancy

SUICIDE - Is not the answer. I come for a family where it seems that suicide is the answer to everything....and it is not....Please I cannot share with you enough to seek help NOW. You may feel that you are strong and do not need help but I cannot scream it loud do...person who have members of their families commit suicide suffer a different kind of loss. Our friends treat out differently, some even abandon us because they do not know how to talk to is not like cancer, or a heart attack....we often have an unexplained guilt that we suffer through quietly and we have know one willing to listen to the unanswered questions we have...the would've should've could've ....I hope there is a suicide crisis line center where you your local not try to deal with this alone....if you want leave me a message here..and I will forward you my e.mail address if you want to take off this site...I want you to know that I will be praying for you and your family during this difficult time...and the times to follow Nancy
