My mother my best friend

by Nikki
(IL)

My mother passed Dec 22, 2008, very suddenly. She was suffering from polymiositis since 2003 and was stuggling to get back into remission for the past 2 years. She saw her doctor early in Dec., and he gave her antibiotics for pnuemonia. A week later, on a Friday, she checked herself into the hospital after not responding to the meds. Over the weekend she was diagnosed with PCP Pnuemonia most likely caused by the steroids she took for her polymiositis. Monday she was on a ventillator and she died a week later.

I keep having flash backs of the hospital and can't get the sound of the ventilator beeping out of my head. I saw her after she passed and she looked so terrible, like something I would have nightmares about. That was my beautiful mother!!! All I do is think of her and rack my brain trying to remember everything about her.

I'm 32 and my mother raised me as a single parent. She was the best mom and as an adult she became my best friend, the only person who loved me unconditionally, always supported me and in a sense was my biggest fan. I miss her terribly!
