My parents would have been married 48 years on August 28 and...

My Dad treated that day like it was just another day! I don't understand how he can do that! My mother has been gone now for a year and a half and he now has a girlfriend. He never talks about mom.

This is so confusing to me because I think about her every day. EVERY SINGLE DAY and for him to forget about the significance of August 28 is tearing me apart!

Does this seem normal or am I just overreacting?

Thanks!

Parents Misbehaving
by: Anonymous

I still haven't forgiven my mother for getting a boyfriend so soon after my father's death.
Your father hasn't stopped loving your mother. He's lonely. Not always a wise decision to rush into another relationship so quickly. Everybody grieves in a different way. It's probably difficult to speak to him about your feelings. It didn't work with my mother. I have 3 siblings and none of us liked her new boy friend. She accused us of being petty and jealous.
She fell and broke her hip after an 8 year relationship where she spent a lot of her money on him. When she was very slow recuperating from her fall~her disgusting boyfriend dumped her. Now all my mother talks about is how much she misses my father.
All you can do is be there for your dad and love him. I hope the best for you.
