A Proud Puppy

A Proud Puppy

My beautiful Rough Collie Puppy, Shadow, was only 8 months old when God called him to The Bridge.
He was a happy, loving little guy, who never met a stranger.
He loved children more than anything in the world.
He had gotten his AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Certification and he was in training to receive his Canine Good Citizen to become a Pet Assisted Therapy dog, when he became ill unexpectedly.
His Vet didn't know what was wrong. His blood work and temperature were normal, and he was happy and eating, drinking normally, up until about a week before he got sick. He was on antibiotics and steroids, but nothing helped. He stopped eating and drinking and he became very weak. The day before he left for The Bridge, he began to have seizures. I could not let him suffer so, and I had to make the decision to set him free. Sometimes, when I'm missing him and crying for him, I can hear him say "Don't cry Mom...I'm fine and I'm here". I got a lot of comfort from your poem "Lend me a Puppy".
Thank you for letting me share about my sweet Angel...Shadow.
