Only 54...............

My husband dies suddenly at age 56. He had life insurance but not alot, he died without a will. We had been raising our 2 grandaughters for several years. Our daughter is a alcoholic. He made 41,000.00 a year. we together had a combined income of $63,000.00. Boom!!!
I live a different life now, relying on food banks and letting bills go to stay alive. I am now homeless living with 3 in 1 rooom of my sons girlfriends house. My furniture is in storage. Problem I am too young to get widows benifits due to I am ONly 54....
When you are 60 you can get it, but that is 6 years away.

We were sure I would be set, but after subsidising life insurance to make up for loss wages, I am now just barely staying off the streets.

Only 54......................

The sad part of living with Grief is that we struggle through life and when our spouse dies we are left with more problems of finance and how to live after death. The government is sure to take their $ or £ and we struggle on our own with no Social Security system to support us till we get on our feet. Many people don't have a job and more and more people are becoming homeless. Often we don't get ourselves into this situation. When the breadwinner dies this is the time that REALITY tells us that we are ON OUR OWN. Life becomes unbearable.
My husband did not have life insurance. My sister and her husband don't have life insurance. The reason being that even insurance companies rip us off. They can easily tell you that your policy had some flaws in it. We need to have a degree to read the small print and decipher the exclusion clauses. Real hardship sets in when one dies. I don't know how we find our way back from more sorrow from financial struggles.
