Papa Ray 77 years old

by Julie Kapeller
(Gladwin, Michigan)

My dearest papa:

We all lost you only 2 weeks ago now and the week before you passed I lost the best friend I have ever had, Fred. So loss is becoming way too familiar. I feel so blessed dad that I was with you in those last few hours, holding your hand talking to you, telling you it was "ok" to move on, we would all be just fine. You never opened your eyes or acknowledged our presence until 2 minutes before you passed.

Your eyes opened fully and you looked up then over towards the bathroom at the hospital then your eyes kept following something near the ceiling all the way to the clock then you took your last few peaceful breaths and you left. Who came to get you dad?? I wonder this every day. I've seen this before in my Nursing career many times and I'm always intrigued and in awe of that experience. You will be dearly missed by all who knew you. Your death was 6/19/10 but your memory lives eternal.

Love your baby girl Jules
