Phoenix: the Sweetest Cocker Spaniel

I have again lost a friend, a companion, a four legged soul-mate .... Phoenix.

Phoenix died at home at 11:40pm on Valentines Day 2012, of a heart attack. He was 13.

In some ways it was so fitting that he should die of a heart attack on Valentine's Day as he was in so many ways the love of my life. I thank God it was quick and that he was at home beside me. Phoenix was the litter mater to Logan who passed away last August 2012.

Phoenix was the angel, the sweet one, the good one. So beautiful is so many ways. They balanced each other out so perfectly.

From the first day we brought the 2 boys home, I used to whisper in their ears ... "this is the deal. You stay close to me, and stay healthy, and grow old with me." It may sound like an odd thing, but prior to Phoenix (and Logan) we had 2 Cocker Spaniels that died at 7 years from lymphoma. I was so hopefull that Phoenix and Logan would live to a ripe old age. And they both fulfilled their part of the deal.

Phoenix.... my heart is broken.
