Rememberance by anonymous (a found poem)

I found this poem accidently.I didn't see it here and it spoke to my heart so strongly that I felt I had to share it.

REMEMBRANCE

YOU CAN SHED TEARS THAT HE IS GONE,
OR YOU CAN SMILE BECAUSE HE HAS LIVED.
YOU CAN CLOSE YOUR EYES
AND PRAY THAT HE'LL COME BACK,
OR YOU CAN OPEN YOUR EYES
AND SEE ALL HE HAS LEFT.
YOUR HEART CAN BE EMPTY
BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE HIM,
OR YOU CAN BE FULL OF
THE LOVE YOU SHARED.

YOU CAN TURN YOUR BACK ON TOMORROW
AND LIVE YESTERDAY, OR YOU
CAN BE HAPPY FOR TOMORROW
BECAUSE OF YESTERDAY.
YOU CAN REMEMBER HIM
AND ONLY THAT HE'S GONE,
OR YOU CAN CHERISH
HIS MEMORY AND LET IT LIVE ON.

YOU CAN CRY AND CLOSE YOUR MIND,
BE EMPTY AND TURN YOUR BACK,
OR YOU CAN DO
WHAT HE'D WANT:

SMILE,OPEN YOUR EYES, LOVE AND GO ON.

When I found this poem I cried because it told me to hold on and live.My mom died 7 months after my dad and I felt like dying my self when my husband died 11 months later.I saw this at about the 3 month mark and I have kept it on the desktop of my computer so I can read it often.I still cry when I read it but it helps me go on.It has been two years this month(May 2013).I never thought I would make one yr let alone two.It poems like this, the poetry and letters on this site that have helped me go on.I feel the pain that goes with loved ones leaving.I have buried my baby sister(she was 44),my mom,my dad,my husband and two grandchildren since 2001.I send love and prayers to all of you.GOD send you peace and comfort.

It is exactly what my Dad would say to me. Miss him everyday and still shed tears 2 years down the line.

Thank you for sharing this, Anonymous. It's gentle simplicity is very moving, and speaks exactly to my own situation.

Appreciatively,
