Remembering Charles (An amazing man).
by Darlene Jones
Charles was really a good man,he helped any and everybody that needed help. I remember earlier last year we where on our way to the store and it was pouring down rain... While we was driving we pass a man on a bike with 2 big black trash bags and charles made a u turn and stopped and got out in the rain and ran across the street to give this man 40 dollars.
Charles was always giving to others. I remember 2 years ago 1 of his coworkers mother had pass away she did not have any money to bury her mother, so charles gave 5 thousand dollars towards the funeral. This was free money he would give to people he never wanted anything in return. This is a few of the amazing things charles has done for people. I asked him one time how much money he thinks he has given out he said maybe a million dollars... I believe him.
We would see so many people holding up signs saying that they was homeless, Charles made it his business to give these people money. I remember saying to him maybe these people are drunks and drug addicts and charles said God knows where my heart is , it's on them to do the right thing.
For the first year of our relationship my daughter (which was 17 at the time) thought charles was an angel my other daughter said charles was more of a father to her than her real father had ever been. Charles mother said that he was always a giving and loving person he has been like this all his life.
I remember when he resign in january of 2009 from his job and all of his coworkers and the boss was crying I kid you not. Charles always told me all of the time that I was the best thing that ever happen to him and that he loves me. He was like a little piece of heaven to me. He helped so many people you really just don't know how many people he has helped. He was kind hearted, loving, giving and a positive talking man he always had kind words for everybody. My mother and me often wonder if he was an angel, we had never met anybody like him in our life time. I remember when charles start losing his voice because of his lung cancer. So when he would talk to people he would explain that he had lung cancer and people would say that they was sorry that he had lung cancer. He would say to them with a big smile on his face if i die today or i die tomorrow please believe me i had a good life, God has been truly wonderful to me. He retired as MGYSGT from the marines he served 26 1/2 years.
It's been over a year since my charles has pass away he would have had a B-day today. His memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part. God has him in his keeping I have him in my heart. Charles E. Wilkerson 1948-2010 R.I.P.
