Serenity, Courage and Wisdom

The Serenity Prayer was our favorite, my mom's and mine.
Since her passing 3 years ago, I recite the Serenity Prayer every day. I ask God to grant me serenity, courage and wisdom as I face the world without her touch, her hugs, her advise, her humor and her presence.
I still cry at the thought of having lost her, but there are times when I smile just thinking of how blessed I was to have a mom like her. My grief has led me to live my life in ways that reflect the traditions and values she instilled in me. At the end of the day, I take a deep breath, acknowledge my sorrow and ask...God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Dear Serenity,
by: Pat in Missouri

Thanks for reminding us of this wonderful prayer. I had it read at my wedding. I also have a plaque with the prayer on it in my kitchen, but usually ignore it. I will make a point to look at it more often. It's a very good reminder of how we get through life and how we get through grief. Thank you for reminding us.

Serenity, Courage, and Wisdom

Thank You for sharing this Serenity Prayer. I can do with a refresher of this prayer and will commit this to my daily prayer as it does cover everything. It embraces wisdom we need to get through life. WE need Courage especially today with so much evil in the world today that would cause us to lose HOPE. And we need the Serenity to go about our business so we can live with Peace and Harmony even in a disturbed world and living with Death.
I am sorry for your loss of your mother and also to know that with Hope you will get through life one day at a time. Let us all continue to encourage each other. Best wishes.

Thank you for posting this. Since my father's death in January, I find myself turning to this prayers almost daily. Peace.
