Shadow - our Old Man Baby

by Debi M.

Yesterday our beloved dog Shadow passed on. He was 18 1/2 years old - black and white Sheltie mix. We brought him back from Malaysia in 1995 while there with my husband on a job assignment. There was an outdoor restaurant on the beach where this litter of pups were born - the owner was looking for people to take the dogs so our kids picked Shadow. I remember the ride back to the house with him in the back seat with the kids going back and forth over a name for him. We ended up putting names in a hat and our son picked his choice which was Shadow. We had many years of enjoyment with our loyal Shadow. It was so hard to see him slowing down. We started calling him our old man baby. Finally made the decision to take him in yesterday afternoon but he ended up passing in his dog bed earlier in the day. The vet was amazed that he lived this long. He was a trooper for sure and truly loved. We are very sad and missing him but thank God for letting us have him as long as we did.
