Sherm Cat

Sherman Cat

Sherman Cat

Sherman was my 4yr old Maine Coon cat. I got Sherman in 2006 when I got married. My husband traveled often, and Sherm became my true companion. The marriage crumbled after 10 short months, and I went through the most hellish experience of my life. Sherman was the only soul who will ever know what I went through.

I met someone new and he fell in love with Sherman immediately. It seemed like my life was finally stable...until Nov. 2009 when I noticed that Sherm was breathing more heavily than normal. I dismissed it at first, thinking he was just playing too hard. However, his breathing didn't improve, so I decided to take him to the vet. I went in expecting a respiratory infection, but the Dr. said he had "chylothorax." Fluid was leaking into his chest cavitity, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

She drained the fluid twice, but it kept returning. I didn't have the money for the surgery he would need, so I had to put him down.

I will never forget him!

Here's to Sherm

As with all of us on this site, we know and understand how bad you feel. Because we've all been there, and many of us, like myself, are still there. May time pass quickly for you. Time, I believe, does not heal all wounds, but it scars them over and makes them more tolerable. Good luck to you. I feel your pain!!

FOR ERIN ABOUT SHERM, CAT
by: Anonymous

DEAR ERIN,
WHY IS IT THAT WHEN WE FEEL WE CAN'T STAND ANOTHER HEARTACHE, ONE COMES ALONG? I THINK IT IS TO MAKE US MORE SENSITIVE, CARING AND UNDERSTANDING TO OTHER'S PAIN. BY EXPERIENCING
IT WE DO KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE. I DO. AND WHEN WE KNOW, FIRST HAND, WE SYMPATHIZE WITH OUR WHOLE HEART. BLESS YOU. MAY YOU SOON FIND HEALING LOVE AND PEACE.
