So much lost

by Anonymous
(Syracuse, NY)

On December 2nd 2009 I lost my mother to a heart attack. I was devestated, it was 17 days before my wedding. I tried to accept it and move on. In November of 2010 my wife and I lost our first pregnancy after 13 weeks. It was very public as we informed all of our family and friends that she was expecting. I frequently told myself that it could not get any worse. I was so wrong! I lost my job in February 2011 which was probably for the best because functioning at this time was extremely difficult. I was seeing a physcologist and taking meds for depression, and seemed to be healing. On April 19, 2011 my brother had a heart attack and ended up in the ICU for a week. He got out of the ICU and ended up having another heart attack with me in the room the same day he made it out of the ICU. Me being in the room saved his life that night. I thought we were lucky and everything was getting better. He was released to a nursing home to recover and was doing well with the help ao a tracheostomy. The whole time I was dealing with this my elderly dog was not doing well. It came time to put him down when he could no longer walk on his own. I loved him so much! He was part of the family, I owned him since I was 19. He was 14 1/2 years old. I accepted it and laid him to rest on May 20, 2011. On May 29th, 2011 I was awakened at 5:30 in the morning by a phone call. It was the nursing home to tell me my brother's heart had stopped for the last time in his sleep. He was 38 years old. Neither one of us got over my mother's death and both suffered from depression. Never tell yourself it can't get any worse!
