Sugar Baby

by Trista
(Kansas)

Yesterday(6/16/10) on the way to my husband's, dads 50th birthday, the whole family was in the car. Me, my 2 & 5 yr olds and my husband was driving. We live in the country and our dogs run free. It was the worst thing in the world to feel the bump and hear my husband say Sugar tripped and feel under the wheel. She never chases any other cars but she follows us down our long driveway when we leave.

Today,(6/17/10) the day after her death, would have been her 8th birthday. She was an 18th birthday from my husband. But she had the best 8 years a dog could have and she never had to suffer a day in her life. She looked peacefully like she was sleeping, so we all got to pet her and tell her bye.

The only positive is she was having hip problems and arthritis in her feet. She never had to suffer getting old, she got to run free and be a real dog every day of her happy life.

Loss of Pet
by: Brenda

I am so sorry for the loss of you dog Sugar Baby. I lost my son Cody Lee Cole on May 21, 2010 he was 27. It was very hard on us and still is.

We took my son to Houston to be buried by his sister and we were gone a few days. We had a neighbor look after our dogs. When we got home we noticed blood on the floor and then we realized it was our dog Pooh. He was bleeding from the rectum.

My husband who was being so strong for me finally broke down. He was crying like a baby. Saying "Oh no, not my Pooh Bear". The he told me we do not have the money to have him treated if it is serious."

I was still in such shock from my son that I barely reacted. My son Cody died without insurance and the funeral was over ten thousand dollars. We put it on a credit card and we were just broke.

He took him to the vet and thank God it was not serious and only cost about 100 dollars. He had a virus. I do not think my husband would have could have taken it and me either for that matter. Our 3 dogs are our children, we have no children together.

I am very sorry for the loss of Sugar baby. It is obvious that he was much loved and lived a happy life. There is alot to be said for that. I know it must have caused you much sorrow with his passing. I realize that dogs have a way of getting too close to cars.

Time is a great healer and you will have the nice memories. I might add that Sugar Baby must have been a great source of unconditional love and comfort. My prayers are with you.
