Support it out there

by K. Womack
(Woodstock, VA)

We lost our son in 1998 and shortly thereafter we began to attend The Compassionate Friends meetings. TCF is a support group for parents, siblings and grandparents who have suffered the loss of a child, sibling or grandchild. Without it, we would not have survived as well as we have. It is a safe place to speak of the terrible loss and to learn ways to cope and try to rebuild your life. It is there that you learn that you are not alone and that you can survive. Your life will never be the same but you can survive.

You can go to the website at The Compassionate Friends and see where meetings are held in your area. The National Convention is this weekend at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Arlington, VA. There will be at least 1200 bereaved parents present, workshops and sharing sessions to help you learn to cope with this loss and to understand all of your emotions.

The loss of our son is the worst blow we have ever endured and he is and will always be a part of our lives. Thanks to TCF and our better understanding of what has happened in our lives. Please consider going to the meetings.

Loss of Son
by: Brenda

I lost my son on May 21, 2010. I will see if I can find any meetings near where I live.
