Ten Long Months

by Doreen Miles

I wake in the silence, not even the ticking of a clock . . .
The One who winds, no longer here
In the silence I break my fast
It is Sunday the world sleeps
It's been ten long months

I wander in the garden . . .
Such a beautiful morn
The air vibrant with butterflies and bees
buzzing in the silence
Icing the blooms in the morning dew . . .
"Oh Look, sweet peas in bloom!"
No answer, the One is no longer here
It's been ten long months

Beauty surrounds me - it is bitter sweet . . .
Tears fall unchecked over my cheeks
Beauty surrounds me - no One to care
The One is no longer here
My heart cannot believe what my head knows
It's been ten long months

It's been 20 months for me now and I still, every once in awhile, catch myself listening for my love's comment on something. When your ONE is gone it is so hard.I am just now able to go to places we went together without crying a lot. The tears still fall.Just not as hard or as long at a time. The hard part is that split second on waking to want to turn over and get that good morning hug and in the next split second realizing you won't anymore.I miss my love as I know you do. this site and the poetry here helps me. I send you love and prayers for strength and peace.GOD be with you.

WOW! Doreen, well written to those of us who have been new and in between and long term greiving. It is heartbreaking to have the One no longer here to hear us when we need to share the morning sun, the smell of rain and a thought with them.
