The Tobin/Balliet/Giangiacomo Family

by Tiffany Giangiacomo
(Sacramento Ca)

We were bullet proof, strong men, and even stronger mother and a loving father. We had a strong home built on love and respect.
At 46 Shawn found out he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer, no one or doctor could help. His 5 children and wife took care of him till the days of his passing. To watch my "big" brother get small and turn colors in front of me is a memory that is tattooed in my mind July 2ND 1956--May 7Th 2006.
That same year, my mom fell and broke her back in 5 places and went from the strongest woman in our family into her wheelchair. I quit my job of 16 years, drove up to her home and hoisted her into my truck. I brought her straight to a SNF by my house and 2 weeks later she was able to stand on her own. During the rebuilding of her independence, we noticed a bulge in my fathers neck. April 2007, stage 1 cancer, as of 12-12-12 he will hopefully be released from his oncologist. Michael Balliet, my mothers youngest brother took his life by suicide December 2008. October 14, 2008 my mother was diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer, she fought a valiant fight...Nov 4th 1937--Feb 27th 2009.
Thanksgiving 2011, a phone call came that changed our lives once again, my husbands father John Giangiacomo had a massage heart attack and passed away Nov 25th 2011.
My oldest brother Randy Tobin had a major heart attack and was not found right away, caused a stroke and fought for 2 weeks. September 4th 1956 -- July 30th 2012
I have one brother and a father left. We don't speak because for fixable reasons.......My father is the only glue to my childhood, after that I guess I find my own way...
