our other half
by: Zoe

We come here from all parts of the world, from all parts of grief. Here we can say what we feel, what we have learned, say what we cannot say anywhere else.
Our husbands, they are our other half, together we make a unit, one. So now he is gone, how do you deal with half of you missing. That journey is different for each of us, but we all recognize the pain, the darkness the silence that is grief. Because grief, true grief, is not loud, it is not the spinning of the hospital or the clamering of a funeral, it is the silence of a bed without the one you love, it is the drip of a faucet without your handy man love grabbing some sort of tool to fix it (hopefully). It is the echos in your mind of laughter that will never be heard again.
Come here as often as you need, we are always here and we always listen.
and when all else fails fall back on the basics
one breath, one step, one day at a time.

Hope through the pain
by: DL

I am so very sorry! My husband of 41 years died of lung cancer that had already gone to his brain when it was diagnosed. He lived 11 months after they found it after months of radiation and chemo! Someone in the family said that they thought if anyone could beat it, he could! It is not a disease of will power and you and I both know that if wishes and prayers could change things it would have. I try to tell myself that it just is! Just stay involved with life as much as you can, set aside time to grieve and move forward one step at a time! This web site helps more than you can know---keep coming, keep sharing and let all on here help shoulder your burden!

Your Husband Theodore
by: TrishJ

Debra,
Welcome to our web site. This site has helped me through so much of the grief journey. I'm still a long way from where I want to be but coming here has really helped.
All of us have a lot to say so please tell us what is on your mind. We don't judge. We all understand the frustration and devastation of losing our husbands. I know how ill my husband was but I never thought he would leave me here by myself. I feel like I lost a limb. I feel like I'm in a foreign country and don't understand the language. I'm definitely on the outside looking in on life. This grief thing is really hard. Losing my husband is the most difficult thing I have ever dealt with in my life. There is a hole in my heart where my he used to be.
Take things one day at a time and don't push yourself too much. Pamper yourself and be selfish ~ just for you. Let those who love you help and support you.
God bless.
