Wait For Me!

by Chris
(Gardena, CA)

I slog on through the rain. The fresh cut grass,
making fuzzy green slippers of my shoes.

I smile thinking of our first rain together.
Walking coat-less, laughing,
through the warm summer downpour.
Teenagers, with love on the brink of discovery.

Our second rain was in a car, parked on a hill.
You asked me to marry you.
Your love lit up my heart,
as lightning blistered the sky in all directions.

I raise my head to view the forest of dull grey obstacles before me,
and then slog on; Memories my only companion.

We made a great team, you and me.
You had the dreams; I helped them happen.
You always leaped ahead, stars in your eyes.
Then, hand out, you waited for me to catch up.

Sighing, I stop at a stone on a hill,
amidst the silent stone forest.

I prefer coming here in the rain,
when the crying sky shares my pain.
I lay my hand upon the stone,
once more you have gone ahead.
My fingers trace your name with love
and my heart cries out….

“Oh darling…. Wait for me again!”

SO true and so beautifully stated, Doreen. Yes, the shroud of death will be forever gone when Jesus comes for us. God bless us as we wait for that glorious day.

Chris I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved and for your expression of your experience of life and loss.
Especially that sentence about the sky crying forth as rain in unison with your pain. It occurred to me that the earth too is crying out in sorrow for its dead.
DEATH is the last enemy that will be destroyed by God Himself according to His Promise. Death was never on God's mind as he adored his creation and wanted to live with us. Adam and Eve let us down by SIN and so we are all tainted with this SIN through the earth claiming its dead. But there is a day coming when the earth will give up its dead and we with HOPE in our hearts will reclaim those lives we have lost and will be with FOREVER according to Promise. Our WAITING will soon be over and we will be REUNITED again.
