when i see the color purple

by anita dumpson
(spfld,ma usa)

The color purple was tella's favorite color. She discovered it was a royal color during the biblical days and very expensive as she was reading a bible story about a woman named lydia. She was only about 4 and so it became her personal signature color. She wore something purple everyday if the weather was warm a purple teeshirt if it was cold a purple hat or coat. As she grew older we her parents started buying purple items for her. Than once her baby sister rasheena grew up she started bringing her home countless things that were purple. She never changed her color it remained purple until the day she passed away at age 27 from chest syndrome. I understand its common for sickle cell anemia patients. At first it was overwhelming to see so much purple all around but now I can smile because I am thinking of a beautiful young lady that would have enjoyed all that purple and she is letting me know that she is alright just saying hello.
