Where Do I Go From Here

by Priscilla

My Mom and I were best friends and use to do everything together. She died 2 years ago - 2 days after her 90th birthday. I know she lived a full life but that doesn't help the pain that I feel. I bought us a new home and after she died it was too painful to live in my home. I rented out my home and now in a few months I have to decide whether to move back home. I really love my home but I don't think I can live there. I miss you so much Mom.

I can well understand your feelings about losing your Mom. I wished my Mom would have lived to have seen 90, but she passed at the age of 46. I was 25 yrs old. It is only since I've been going to counceling over the loss of my husband last November, that I've been able to understand the grief process and realized that all the angry feelings I had when my Mom passed was grieving, but I now know that I never went through the full process, nor did I when my youngest brother passed away about 4 yrs after my mom and my Dad 10 yrs after my Mom. Like you, I shared this house with my husband, we lived alone with the exception of a cat. At first, I didn't think I could ever stay in the house. But I realized that even though he passed away here at home, we had a life here, had a lot of good memories in this house. Although, admittedly, it is somewhat lonely. All of my own family all live up north. I had moved down here to be with my husband. I still go through periods of up and downs and miss him terribly, but I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. If you do decide to keep the house, just always remember all the good times you had with your Mom. Hope this helps, God bless you, take it one day, one step
