Ruby Tuesday

by Tanya Thomas
(Costa Mesa, California )

We rescued Ruby when she was just 10 weeks old. She was a Staffordshire Terrier mix. She loved everything and everyone. Out family only went to malls where she was allowed, restaurants where she was welcome, and vacations that included her. My husband lost his job, and she got him through the worst depression of his life. He says the walks to the beach saved him and kept his mind clear, until he found work again. She taught us all how to love, bringing us her “baby” every time we walked in the door. She would lay and kiss my sons’ faces until they were raw. She loved “bye-bye”’s and looking at Christmas lights with us. She died at just 9 1/2 years of liver mass hemmoraging, a complication of Cushings disease. It has been 3 months and I miss her more than before. It’s gwttig worse, not better....and I am broken and lost without her. My 23 year old son says he’ can’t pull out of it either and I’m trying to be strong for him. We all miss her so so much. My husband says he misses her more than family members that have passed. Me too..

I lost my Sugar, a female black lab, 2 months ago now, and I'm with you on the worse, not better. Your son should know that it's not something you pull out of, so stop trying; it's with you until it's ready to let you go, or at least loosen its grip. And it will. If you're like me, in 2 or 3 years you'll be able to talk about her without crying anymore. The beauty and depth of the human capacity to love another will again one day seem like a benefit rather than a curse. Just not right now. Now, you just miss your Ruby, like I miss my Sugar.

Sorry for the loss
by: Anonymous

I am so sorry for the loss of Ruby. I know too well how you feel I lost my Poodles rescue dog as well. She was my everything. I wish I could say it gets better with time but it does not. My thoughts are with you. You gave her love and she gave it back hold on to that. Once again I am so sorry.
